What We Do
Our Legacy
Discover the impactful projects we've completed, leaving a lasting positive change
Funded by Women’s Fund Asia, focused on addressing period poverty and promoting financial empowerment among disabled women in Tharparkar.
This program aimed to employ and teach five women and a trainee to craft safe and reusable pads, providing sustainable menstrual hygiene solutions and fostering economic independence.
- Employed and Empowered: 5 women
- 2000 eco-friendly, sustainable pads made
When Cyclone Biaparjoy struck, our team of empowered women went into action, producing an incredible 2,000 eco-friendly pads. These pads were then distributed in Chitral and Kharan with the help of Dastak, reaching those who needed them most.
This project is more than just pads, it’s about:
- Building resilience: By equipping women with valuable skills, we’re helping them build a secure future.
- Sustainable solutions: Reusable pads are good for the environment and women’s health.
- Dignity in disaster: No woman should have to compromise their well-being during a crisis.
- Economic independence: Through the learned skills, these women can earn a living. Click here to view our pamphlet available in both Urdu and English
Mahwari Justice broke the mold once again with a powerful new weapon in the fight for menstrual hygiene awareness: Rap Music.
Mahwari Justice teamed up with Sindhi Chokkri aka Urooj Fatima Kapri, a trailblazing hip hop artist from Sindh using her voice to break down barriers and challenge social norms, to create a catchy rap song about periods, busting down stigma with the power of music and art. By rapping in local languages like Sindhi, Balochi, and Urdu, we made sure that the message resonated with a diverse audience, hitting close to home for the communities we aim to impact.
We recognized the immense potential of art as a tool for advocacy. This rap song exemplifies how creative expression can be a powerful driver for social change. It’s catchy, it’s relatable, and most importantly, it gets the conversation flowing in a way that’s both informative and engaging

Explore our ongoing efforts to drive impactful change and support communities
In the wake of the devastating floods that struck Gwadar in early 2024, Mahwari Justice rose to the challenge, ensuring a critical need wasn’t forgotten: menstrual hygiene. We distributed 200 emergency dignity kits, filled with essential supplies like pads, soap, underwear, and cotton, to menstruators left vulnerable by the disaster.
Our incredible volunteers in Lahore and Islamabad sprang into action, packing an additional 350 dignity kits. Fueled by compassion, they meticulously assembled these lifelines, including the generous donation of 200 sustainable pads from Fempure. This outpouring of support from across Pakistan exemplifies the power of community in the face of crisis.
Our on-ground lead Asfiya, supported by Anita Jalal and BYAC volunteers, worked tirelessly to reach the hardest-hit and most vulnerable populations. Kits were delivered to various communities, including the Mahigir, Hindu, and Ismaili communities, as well as residents of the GPA Guest House and Kolanchi Para.
Our menstrual health and hygiene sessions are smashing the myths and spreading the facts! Led by passionate volunteers and medical professionals, these sessions create safe spaces for young girls to ask questions, share experiences, and gain accurate knowledge about their periods.
Our sessions include:
- Digital Advocacy: We use captivating animated videos to break down key messages in a visually appealing format that keeps girls hooked.
- Game On!: Learning shouldn’t feel like a chore. That’s why we incorporate fun and educational menstrual health games, fostering a comfortable environment where girls can learn through play.
- Mythbusters Unite!: Periods shrouded in mystery? Not anymore! We tackle common misconceptions head-on, providing a comprehensive introduction to the female body and addressing menstrual health myths with accurate information.
- Go Green, Stay Clean: We believe in a sustainable future for periods too! We educate participants on the benefits and use of sustainable menstrual pads, empowering them with eco-friendly options.
- Hygiene Heroes: Maintaining good menstrual hygiene is crucial. Our sessions emphasize essential hygiene practices to ensure girls stay healthy and confident throughout their periods.
We’re making menstrual health advocacy a vibrant experience, infusing the spirit of art with activism. Every brushstroke, every laugh, every moment contributes to a powerful movement for menstrual equity.
- Let your HE(art) out : MJ X LAST WORD
In March 2024, we partnered with Last Word Bookstore in Lahore to host a vibrant tote bag painting event. Featuring handcrafted bags by Tharparkar women, the event celebrated local artistry and sustainability. It brought together a passionate community, turning a fun activity into a powerful statement for menstrual health awareness and disaster relief.
- Red Rhythms: MJ X KITAB GHAR
Mahwari Justice’s fundraiser at Lahore’s Kitab Ghar was more than just raising money—it celebrated community, creativity, and menstrual health advocacy. Volunteers assembled 200 dignity kits for Gwadar menstruators, followed by a lively open mic with Kathak, music, and poetry.
- Let your HE(art) out 2nd EDITION: MJ X CAFE SOL
To celebrate World Menstrual Hygiene Day, Mahwari Justice hosted a vibrant event at Cafe Sol, blending art, activism, and community spirit. Participants packed 150 dignity kits for Gwadar flood victims, transforming Cafe Sol into a hub of artistic expression. Canvases came alive, music filled the air, and period bracelets were made, symbolizing menstrual equity.
In Pakistan, 49% of girls are unaware of menstruation before their first period, and 33 million struggle to access proper menstrual hygiene facilities. Less than 20% use sanitary pads. Removing the luxury pink tax is crucial in combating period poverty, as it exacerbates the issue by limiting accessibility and affordability, directly impacting women’s menstrual health.
This petition demands that the Pakistani Government:
- Remove the luxury tax on menstrual products.
- Subsidize menstrual hygiene products
- Introduce free menstrual products in all schools
- Recognize menstrual products as essential items
