What’s in my Pad? Campaign

A campaign for safer menstrual products in Pakistan
What’s In My Pad? is a campaign calling for greater transparency and stronger safety standards for menstrual products in Pakistan. Through research, public education, consultations, and advocacy, we are pushing for manufacturers to clearly disclose product ingredients and for the government to establish and enforce comprehensive safety standards.

Everyone deserves to know what they are putting against their bodies, and to have access to menstrual products that are safe, transparent, and responsibly regulated.

Abolish Red Tax Campaign

From a petition to policy change: a campaign for tax-free menstrual products in Pakistan
Mahwari Justice started the “Abolish Red tax” campaign in December 2023 by creating a petition on change.org. In 2024, through our campaign, we supported the Mahnoor v. Federation petition, which challenged the unfair taxation of menstrual products and called for their recognition as essential items.

In 2025, we amplified the issue through public conversations, digital advocacy, and an online petition demanding the removal of the period tax.

Our petition garnered over 10,000 signatures. All of these efforts eventually lead to the removal of this tax.

In budget for fiscal year of 26-27 Pakistan Govt. proposed removal of tax from period products. This milestone was achieved by relentless digital and on ground advocacy by Mahwari Justice and other CSOs working on this issue.

Period Policy Hackathons

Turning menstrual justice challenges into practical policy solutions.

Our Period Policy Hackathons bring young people together to identify gaps in menstrual health and hygiene policy and develop practical, evidence-informed solutions. Through collaborative problem-solving, research, and policy design, participants explore how menstrual justice issues can be translated into actionable recommendations for policymakers and institutions.

Policy Briefs Sessions

Equipping young advocates with the tools to turn ideas into policy action.
Our Policy Briefs sessions introduce young advocates to the fundamentals of policy writing and advocacy. Participants learn how to identify a policy problem, build an evidence-based argument, develop clear recommendations, and communicate them effectively to decision-makers.
